Bill Marchiony has been creating and implementing advanced digital print production workflow systems since 1989.
Before founding First Name Basis in 2008, he was an executive in New Markets development at Xpressdocs and expresscopy.com, firms that specialize in postcard mailing services for Residential Real Estate firms.
Until 2004 Bill was Senior VP for Consulting and Integration Services at Lexigraph and Think121. His duties with this software company beginning in 2001 were to oversee the integration of the firm’s workflows, techniques and technologies into customers real-world production systems. Bill had previously been one of the company’s leading customers and reseller at Canopy and PrimeSource Digital Print Group, where he was involved in building the company’s most sophisticated automated Digital Print production systems.
Bill joined PrimeSource in 1995 as a Workflow Consultant at Prime Systems Group, a small team dedicated to helping world-class publishers move their production workflows from proprietary systems to desktop technologies. He subsequently developed the company’s line of integrated ProductionPath products and systems.
He has worked in a variety of marketing and graphic arts businesses, including an imagesetter manufacturer, a catalog direct-mail company and a color pre-press shop. Before becoming involved in graphic arts, Bill spent ten years in other parts of the communications industry: He was a comedy writer, producer and on-air personality for “Morning Zoo” radio shows in several cities. He created and wrote a nationally-syndicated personalized comedy service that was heard every day on stations all over the US. Bill also worked in advertising agencies as a creative copywriter for local, regional and national accounts.
Bill Marchiony holds a BFA from New York University's School of the Arts.
